Aor Military Acronym - It seems unusual for a military command - a combat-based organization - to be specifically named a "combat" command. But this is what one of the highest echelons of military command is called. What is a War Order? How many are there? Where are they? What are they doing?
Also known as Unified Combatant Command or COCOM, these commands represent the highest level of military command possible and are overseen by what is known as the Unified Command Plan or UCP. The UCP defines and approves things such as each COCOM's area and/or area of responsibility, as well as each command's mission. The UCP aims to align each COCOM with overall national policy objectives. This authority extends to subordinate commands within each COCOM so that all U.S. forces across all service lines are treated equally.
