Now don't get me wrong, I think the handguard of the M&P 15 Sport 2 is good, but it's garbage because it's just thin plastic. It doesn't have any thermal lining on it, and I've seen one (the stock handguard) start to melt after shooting a few mags in the gun…

Here's the good news... I think this is a great place for Smith and Wesson to save you money (on the total price you pay for the gun) because changing your handguard is one of the easiest things to do you can do with your AR…

So the first upgrade I recommend for your M&P 15 Sport 2 is to replace the cheap plastic handguard with something better, and my current favorite option is the Midwest Industries Drop In M-LOK Handguard. This is a fantastic handguard for many reasons...

First of all, it is made of high quality aluminum. So it will be a solid addition to your AR, but in addition to that, the M-LOK will also allow you to mount any other accessory you want (like a light, laser, vertical grip , bipod, etc.) I'll watch over you...

So right now, my favorite stock upgrade is the Magpul MOE SL Carbine Stock. I like this stock for many reasons. First of all, it fits perfectly into the buffer tube of your rifle. The second reason I don't like the A2's grip is that it's a little thin and doesn't fill my hand too much. It's less of a problem than the finger bar for me, but it still doesn't fit. So I always swap out A2-style grips on my ARs, and right now, my favorite aftermarket grip is the MOE K2+ Grip…

Lightly Used Smith & Wesson M&p15 Sport Ii W/ Upgrades

First of all, the K2+ KPM has no finger rails. So I can do it comfortably every time without adjusting my hand. Additionally, it fills my hands with the perfect amount without being too thin. Also, since this is the MOE version of the K2, it sits at a slightly more vertical angle than the A2 grip, which I find more comfortable when shooting. And finally, it's also a + model, which means it has a rubber coating around it that improves the grip...

And don't forget that Magpul makes their grips in some really cool colors, so you can choose a black grip to keep your rifle more modest, or get a colored grip to add a little more personality on your M&P 15 Sport.

I like it because it's a reliable conversion kit, and again, it lets you save money by getting a cheaper .22 LR than your Sport. You can use it as a practice tool that allows you to shoot both the rifle and optic set at a lower cost, or you can use it as a way to have fun with an inexpensive .22 LR long range shooting box. This is definitely a great upgrade and I recommend it to anyone who owns an AR 15.

The M&P 15 Sport 2 has what is commonly called a "Mil Spec" trigger. It's a great trigger, but there's definitely room for improvement. And by far my favorite trigger upgrade for the Sport II is the CMC Tactical Bow Drop-In Trigger…

First of all, this trigger looks really cool, and since it's a drop-in trigger, it's easy to install. On a side note (and I can't explain why) but the flat face trigger looks better to me than the standard curved trigger, and it just makes my shooting experience more enjoyable (probably because I'm more accurate)…

The trigger also pulls at a net 3.5LBs making it very easy for you to pull the trigger back without obstructing your sight (easier to be accurate). And on top of that, the CMC Drop-In trigger is quite affordable, especially considering the price of other aftermarket triggers in its class.
