The Glock 23 Gen3 40 S&W pistol's compact and lightweight design is an excellent pistol option for both open and concealed carry. As a result, it is primarily preferred by police and other law enforcement agencies, giving them a lighter handgun option despite the heavier .40 caliber cartridge.
Glock 19 40 Cal
The Glock 23 is physically similar to the Glock 19, with the same size and empty weight, but the G23 is big enough to handle the pistol well, with a comfortable 4-inch barrel.
Glock Pistols Gen3 Vs Gen4. What Is The Difference Between The Generations?
The Glock 23 Gen3 40 S&W pistol is loaded with .40 caliber ammo, which provides a solid middle ground between the ease of use of the Glock 19 and the stopping power of larger calibers. Using .40 caliber rounds adds a full millimeter in diameter to each bullet and transfers more energy to the target.
The G23 pistol has repeatedly demonstrated world-class reliability even under the most extreme conditions and has passed numerous durability tests and is used by many US law enforcement agencies.
The AT3 Tactical Store has a 90-day hassle-free return policy for items in good condition. You can see all the information about our return policy here.

Often superior to the more popular Glock 19, the Glock 23 still has a lot to offer the discerning shooter. While it may not be as easy to handle as the 19s, the Glock 23 uses .40 caliber pistol ammunition, which provides plenty of stopping power.
What Gen Is My Glock
The main reason police departments around the country offer the G23 over the G19 is the increased power, but the weapon's benefits aren't limited to those in uniform.
The Glock 23 in .40 caliber ammo offers a solid middle ground between the ease of use of the Glock 19 and the stopping power of a larger caliber.
While it looks like a Glock 19 when you first hold it, the Glock 23 disintegrates as soon as you pull the trigger. Using .40-inch rounds adds a full millimeter of diameter to each bullet, and the effect on recoil is immediately apparent.
Despite the increased recoil, which I'll discuss in detail later, the gun is as accurate as any Glock I've used.
How Many Rounds Does A Glock Hold?
The Glock 23 comes with three dot plastic sights (one front, two rear). As with the Bullseye pistol, the stock sights do the job well enough, but I definitely recommend getting aftermarket sights, especially if you plan on using the gun in low light situations.
Glock has earned a reputation for making guns you can trust with your life, and the Glock 23 is no different. This gun will shoot anything you put it at without complaint.
No failure in using my device. It seems consistent with other Glocks I've owned and used over the years, so I'm not surprised.
One big concern I have is how the wear of the rifle will increase compared to the 9mm Glock 19. Time will tell in any case and so far the Glock pistols have stood the test of time.

As mentioned earlier, the Glock 23 is physically identical to the Glock 19, with similar dimensions and empty weight.
Like the Glock 19, the G23 is large enough to hold comfortably, with a comfortable 4-inch barrel. The sights are easy to set up and the pistol's plain, non-obstructive design makes it easy to grip and hold.
The Glock 23 has a trigger safety system, which requires a full purchase to pull the trigger. It does not include hand safety as part of the design as a protective device.
I appreciate the simple yet effective trigger safety design, which minimizes the risk of accidentally releasing any feature in the gun.
Glock 17 Vs. Glock 19
If you're in a situation where you're forced to defend yourself, you don't have time to check your hand safety, and the Glock 23 trigger safety is designed with that situation in mind. After all, one's best security is one's own situational awareness and discipline.
The reason the Glock 23 was designed was to recreate a pistol that was as reliable and serviceable as the Glock 19 but with a larger caliber .40 round. As such, the magazine holds 23 fewer rounds (13) compared to the Glock 19 (15 rounds).
One feature of the Glock 23 is the alternate magazine release, which you can switch to whichever side is most convenient for you. While not as easy as the two-sided version, this feature is still great for those southpaws out there.
The size and shape of the Glock 23 is similar to the Glock 19. It measures 7.36" x 5.04" x 1.26" overall, with Glock's "characteristic" box shape.

Empty weight measures 21.16 ounces, the same as the G19, but the loaded magazine makes the G23 lighter by comparison.
The Glock 23 measures smaller and lighter than the Glock 22, which uses the same .40 caliber rounds in the larger frame and magazine. This makes it more suitable for concealed carry while maintaining the accuracy and stopping power of the full pistol.
The recoil on the Glock 23 is what sets it apart from the Glock 19 for me.
23 steel slide has a significant muzzle as it moves backwards and forwards into position. This made it difficult for me to quickly align the target after the shot and took some getting used to.
Mm Versus .40 Smith & Wesson: Which Caliber Is Better For Self Defense?
I guess there are some disadvantages to a metal slide on a polymer frame, and this is one of them. The muzzle flip worked all day on my wrist and was a surprise when using a gun like the Glock 19.
However, the increased stopping power of a .40 caliber round in a defensive situation should more than compensate for the Glock 23's slower rate of fire.
In terms of price, the Glock 23 is a step up from the Glock 19 in terms of rifle and ammunition.
At $600 MSRP, the Glock 23 is more affordable. .40 caliber ammo will cost you at least twice as much as buying 9mm ammo. That being said, there is no other bullet as cheap and powerful as the 9mm, so it's not the most accurate comparison.
Advantage +1 Follower For Glock 19
The Glock 19 is popular for a reason: cheap, easy to use and widely available, the Glock has made a name for itself.
But in actual combat, 9mm ammo leaves something to be desired, which is why the .40 S&W was invented for American officials.
Compared to the 19, the Glock 23 is more expensive and more difficult to use. But these weaknesses come with a much-needed increase in stopping power, making this gun an incredibly effective service gun option.
As a private owner, you'll find the Glock 23 serves as the perfect choice for a bolt-action pistol for home defense or everyday carry. The Glock's reliability and ease of use make it a great self-defense tool with high-quality ammunition.

(Demetrius Morgan/Released) Key point: The .40 was designed to give law enforcement a more powerful handgun than the 9mm.
Times are always changing and that is certainly the case in the gun world. What we're seeing now is a shift to 9mm at the expense of the .40 S&W.
For example, the FBI recently switched from the .40 S&W to the 9mm Luger, specifically the Glock 22 and 23 to the Glock 17 and 19. The US Army strongly considered switching to the .40, but ultimately stuck with the 9mm. They chose the SIG Sauer M17 as their new service weapon. And police departments across the country are trading their .40 caliber pistols for 9mm.

It's not hard to see why. Although the 9mm FMJ is a very weak man-stopping round, there are many highly effective self-defense coated hollow points available for civilians and law enforcement today. Therefore, the need for the .40 is greatly reduced and the 9 mm on it
